Grab your pink wig or maybe your boa. Face paint is okay too.
Mardi Gras in New Orleans means it’s time to get your costume ready.

It’s the perfect time to be in New Orleans to take in a few parades, enjoy the colorful floats, catch beads and doubloons and Second Line with the city’s best marching bands. For two weeks before “Fat Tuesday,” (February 5 this year), more than thirty parades rolled throughout the metropolitan area attracting crowds come rain or shine. Tulane’s own band marched in four parades this year including Rex, the grandest of them all, on Mardi Gras Day. It’s a couple of weeks when the city’s culture comes alive, when the entire city shares an event on a scale unlike anything else in the world.
