Global Green Wave FAQs

Question 1: Where will I live?

You will have your own room while living with a host family. Each student will fill out a housing survey to note their preferences. CIEE will take these preferences into consideration when placing students-some students will be alone in a home, while others will share a family! Some families may have young children, while other families may be single households.

Question 2: How many students are participating?

We can’t answer that question definitively until the deposit deadline of June 1 has passed. The quicker we receive the first ten deposits, the sooner you can start packing!

Question 3: Will any Tulane faculty be visiting?

Our goal is to provide at least one Tulane faculty visit in each city, but more to come on this soon!

Question 4: Will we be flying in as a group?

You will be making your own travel arrangements. However, we will administer a closed Facebook group for deposited students to share travel plans, swap information and get to know each other.

Question 5: When do I have to commit?

You have until June 1 to commit with a $500 deposit but the sooner we receive the first ten commitments, the sooner you can start packing!

Question 6: Are there ways to integrate Global Green Wave students with the Tulane student body as a whole?

Student Affairs is conducting a full orientation program as well as additional Spring programming for the Spring Scholars.

Question 7: What happens if the homestay and student are not a good match?

There will be a CIEE representative available during business hours to respond to any needs. An emergency support person will also be available 24/7 to handle any emergency issues that might arise. That person may or may not be the same person who handles issues during business hours.

Question 8: Can I rush?

In order to rush during the spring at Tulane, you will need to have earned a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have a 12 credit hours that have been approved for transfer at Tulane. Participating in 12 credit hours does not guarantee that you will join a Greek organization, however, only that you can rush. You must also send in your transcripts from the credits you earned before rush begins to

Question 9: Is there any way I can get credit?

The intention is to create a bond among students, provide leadership opportunities and intercultural experiences. The workshops will include language lessons, community service/social justice awareness, and communication/media classes. Even though there are no credits earned, this experience will prove invaluable when applying for internships and jobs.
