Medieval and Early Modern Studies

The Medieval and Early Modern Studies Program offers an interdisciplinary major and minor that covers the fourth through the seventeenth centuries. The department’s core faculty of 15 professors, specializing in various disciplines, offers numerous courses relating to the pre-modern period. The major in medieval studies consists of 27 credits chosen by the student and the student’s advisor from the following fields: Germanic, Latin and Romance, Social Studies, and Fine Arts. The student chooses one of these four fields as the area of specialization and takes four courses in this area; the remaining five courses are to be divided among at least two of the other three fields.
