My name is Mary Lawson, and I am from Atlanta, GA. I spent my fall semester in Barcelona at UIC. The reason I chose Barcelona was because I knew when applying to Tulane that I wanted to major in Architecture, and this would be the best program to stay on track for that.
In high school, I participated in swimming, tennis, and was a football manager. In October of eleventh grade, I had a house fire which was one of the toughest times in my life, and it was very difficult balancing schoolwork and being homeless for some time. That hardship really prepared me for life and any other difficulties I may face in the future. So far, I’ve felt well prepared to adjust from Barcelona to life at Tulane.
I have not yet gotten involved in specific organizations just yet other than the Spring Scholars Ambassador as Architecture can be time-consuming, but I do hope to join a sorority in the fall during informal recruitment.
