BA, Tulane University
Pocket Park when the jasmine is in full bloom.
After college, I lived in San Francisco for a few years. The SF alumni group throws a big annual crawfish boil, and the camaraderie, joy, and boisterousness of this Tulane community made me decide then and there that I wanted to move back to New Orleans and become a part of the campus community once again. So I did!
My favorite personal New Orleans tradition is New Year's Eve. My friends and I have dinner at Clancy's Restaurant, which is one block away from Patois Restaurant in the middle of an Uptown neighborhood. At midnight, the staff from both restaurants do a dueling fireworks show and we stand in the street to cheer on our favorite restaurant. It would never happen anywhere else.
When the process gets too stressful, remind yourself that at the end of it, you get to go to college and it's going to be fantastic, wherever you end up.
