The Homecoming tailgate on Newcomb Quad.
Taking a Jazz and Literature class with Professor Dinerstein (he literally wrote the book on how to be cool in America…and then curated a Smithsonian exhibit on it).
I manage production on all our video projects, and a couple years ago we had to stage a shot of some students and a brass band performing on a French Quarter street. I figured the band would play through the song once and we’d quickly get some workable shots—six minutes playing in the street max. Well, we weren’t even a minute into the song before a crowd started gathering. Two minutes, and people started dancing in the street. By the end of the song, there were locals, tourists, little kids, a man with a cane, a woman with a baby, this guy in a big hat holding a dog, literally dozens of people dancing, cheering, sun shining, confetti falling on us, and a big crowd watching and clapping along. The band just kept playing and we had an impromptu dance party with them in the street for the better part of an hour. On a Thursday morning.
