Tulane’s 2019 faculty and staff day of service, Wave of Green, will take place Thursday, April 18. The annual day of service was created as a way for faculty and staff to come together as Tulanians and make a difference in the community.

Volunteers can participate in various activities across the city, including sorting Mardi Gras beads at Arc of Greater New Orleans, cleaning up City Park, sorting donations at Second Harvest Food Bank, clearing catch basins with Clean it Up NOLA or supporting another one of our community partners.

Katie Houck, associate director of Tulane’s Center for Public Service and one of the event coordinators, said, “Tulane exemplifies what a community-engaged university should be. Not only do we support our students in their community-engaged work, but we provide opportunities for our staff and faculty to live out this mission as well.”

On the uptown campus, the day begins and ends at Turchin Stadium. Transportation will be provided from the stadium to each volunteer site, as well as snacks, beverages and a closing lunch for all participants.

Registration is open for faculty and staff until April 5. Participants must register for Wave of Green.

Coordinating service activities will take place at the primate center for those faculty and staff members as well. Faculty and staff interested in volunteering for the primate center events should contact Stacey Schwankhart
