The mission of the Digital Media Production major is to educate students in the art, craft, and technology of film, television, video, animation, and sound production. The program offers intensive, hands-on production experience through both coursework and the opportunity for internship in New Orleans’ thriving film and media industry.
All students pursuing the major participate in at least two semester-long group production projects as well as two capstone projects, in which each student writes, directs, produces, casts, shoots, and edits a project of his or her own conception. Opportunities for further production through independent study and elective classes are also available. The elective portion of the curriculum includes courses in several departments, including Art, Music, Theatre, Communication, and English, allowing students to focus their studies on writing, directing, performance, editing, or a number of other aspects of the field.
Digital Media Production is a coordinate major, meaning students must also choose one other major at Tulane, in a discipline of his or her choice.
