Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

The Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) major includes courses within the discipline, in addition to courses from across the natural sciences. Moreover, EEB provides a solid foundation of core courses in organismal and integrative biology, including ecology and evolution. Each student adds elective courses of her/his own choice, such as comparative animal behavior, evolution in human health and disease, human physiology, ornithology, stream ecology, or tropical ecology.

The department’s faculty and students are consistently engaged in research and study in multi-disciplinary areas including evolutionary biology, tropical ecology, conservation biology, environmental biology, and global environmental change. One of the distinguishing features of the department is the opportunity we provide for our undergraduate majors to become directly involved with faculty in laboratory and field research through independent studies, special projects, and senior honors theses.
