Each year approximately 175 transfer students join the Tulane community in the spring or fall semester. The transfer process works differently than the initial college admission process, and we hope this section will guide you through it.

Visiting Campus

The best way to find out what awaits you at Tulane is to visit campus. On our visit page, you may sign up for a campus tour or other special visit programs. For admitted students, we host preview days known as Destination Tulane throughout March and April.

Lunch with a Current Student

We encourage admitted transfer students to have lunch with a current Tulane student. While not guaranteed, we try our best to accommodate all requests for a current student lunch. To request a lunch during your visit, please click here.

Application Requirements

When reviewing a transfer application, we generally look for a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and successful completion of at least one college course in English, one in math, and one in a foreign language. To be eligible for admission to Tulane, all transfer applicants must have attended a regionally accredited college or university and be in good standing at the most recent educational institution attended.

In order to complete the transfer application process (fall or spring), you must submit the following materials:

*For students with 30+ credits taken as a college student, at an American university, and a 3.4 cumulative grade point average, we may be able to waive the test score requirement. Once you have submitted your application and college transcript(s), please email transfer@tulane.edu to see if you are eligible.

Scholarships and Financial Aid

We understand that financial aid is an important consideration in the transfer decision. Tulane awards merit scholarships and need-based financial aid to make Tulane affordable and a great value. Transfer students may be offered a merit scholarship, need-based financial aid, or a combination of both after being admitted and submitting the necessary forms. For more information, please visit our financial aid for transfer students page.

International Transfer Students

If you have taken university courses at a non-American, international university, it is necessary that your university courses be evaluated by World Educational Services (WES). This ensures a fair and accurate evaluation of all international transcripts sent to Tulane. Please note that this evaluation may be used by any other university to which you have applied and, ultimately, to any graduate program you may pursue in the future.

International transfer students who have successfully completed 30 credit hours at an American university may waive the TOEFL/IELTS requirement. Click here for more information on life as an international student at Tulane.

School of Continuing Studies

If you are looking to attend Tulane as a part-time student, you will need to contact Tulane’s School of Continuing Studies. If you are currently enrolled in Tulane's School of Continuing Studies and wish to become a full-time student, you should request an interdivisional transfer from SCS. Please reach out to the SCS office for more information
