Hi, I’m Naomi from Chicago, IL. I am currently majoring in Public health. Coming from a state school in the Northeast to a private school in the south was definitely a big transition for me, but everyone at Tulane welcomed me with open arms. Something I realized when at my previous institution was that with such big class sizes, I felt that I was seen as another student in the classroom instead of an individual. The small class setting of Tulane has allowed me to get to know both my professors and classmates better and increased my confidence when participating. When going about the transfer process, Tulane’s staff and students I talked to were extremely responsive and helpful in navigating my application and made the decision to transfer to Tulane an easy one. I also wanted to be more engaged with the community I was living in, and Tulane’s integration of service into the school’s curriculum was extremely intriguing to me. It was also helpful to have meetings with my advisor which helped quell any fears I had about academics and transfer credits which reassured me that I would be on track when I stepped foot on campus. I am so appreciative to have been welcomed by both the Tulane community and the larger New Orleans community. If you’re scared to make the change, don’t be! Tulane is an extremely supportive and caring institution that will assist you every step of the way!
