Cost of Attendance

Through our extensive merit-based and need-based scholarship programs, we work to make Tulane as affordable as possible for each admitted student.

Below is our estimated 2026-2027 cost of attendance for first-year undergraduate students living on campus and enrolled full-time in our undergraduate college, called Newcomb-Tulane College. Our Cost of Attendance (COA) is an annual budget that reflects the cost to attend Tulane for one academic year. It includes both:

• Direct costs - billed by the university
• Indirect costs - typical expenses you may have while enrolled

Your actual bill will include direct costs only. Some Cost of Attendance components are allowances and are not billed by the university, but are included to help families plan and to determine financial aid eligibility.

DIRECT COSTS

Tuition

$70,622

Mandatory Fees

$4,514 (This includes our Academic Service, Health Center, Student Activity, and Reily Recreation Center fees)

Housing

$11,758 (based on a weighted average of all housing options available to first-year students)

Meals

$8,780 (based on minimally required meal plan but will vary on the actual meal plan selected)

INDIRECT COSTS

Books & Supplies

$1200 (though Tulane provides a more affordable and convenient course materials ordering model that gives Newcomb-Tulane College undergraduate students access to all textbooks and course materials on the first day of class via the NTC Undergrad Bundle).

Transportation

Varies (Local transportation and travel home)

Miscellaneous

$1,778 (While the charges above represent the primary billable expenses from Tulane - excluding financial aid - there are additional expenses students and families should anticipate. These can include: a one-time $300 orientation fee for first-year students; health insurance if not covered by parents; laundry; a one-time technology fee for students in our School of Architecture & Built Environment; and laboratory fees for certain courses.)

Loan Fees

$58 (If you receive federal loans as part of your financial aid offer, you may have loan origination fees)

TOTAL

$98,710

It is important to note that the total cost of attendance at Tulane will vary depending on your enrollment status (full-time or part-time), class standing (first-year or transfer), and your residency (on campus, off-campus, or commuting from your family home).

In addition, our costs typically increase 3-5% each year, though our need-based financial aid offerings attempt to meet these annual increases. Grants and scholarships may cover anywhere from $1,000 to your full cost of attendance.

For a more precise estimate of your cost of attendance based on your enrollment status, class standing and residency, view our official Cost of Attendance or visit our Student Accounts Receivable site.
