The Tulane Interdisciplinary Experience Seminar (TIDES) first-year experience offers a small-group seminar environment (capped at 15 students) designed to facilitate meaningful connections with your classmates and help you successfully transition to campus life. All first-year students in Newcomb-Tulane College take a First-Year Seminar during their first semester on campus. Think of it as your Tulane homeroom!
Led by our expert faculty, you’ll explore an academic theme and get to know New Orleans from an interdisciplinary perspective. Each course also has an upperclassman peer mentor, who is available to offer academic and social support. With over 125 rotating topics to choose from, there is something to pique every interest. Some examples include: Frames, Films, & Femme Fatales; Religion, Media, Politics, & Food; and Engineering in New Orleans. Visit the First-Year Experience website to learn more.
