PreviewTU FAQs

PTU Fall 2022 Program Update

Students should have received the following email update on September 1st outlining changes to our 2022 PTU program:

Due to current COVID-19 Housing and Residence Life regulations, we unfortunately must cancel the overnight stay invitation for PreviewTU. We are committed to the health and wellbeing of our current and prospective students and families and are doing everything we can to ensure your safety.

While we are unable to provide housing for interested students in the dorms, we are still inviting families to attend a full day of PreviewTU programming on October 15th, to be followed the next day by a Campus Preview Day on the 16th! In addition to this day of in-person programming, we are in the process of scheduling a series of virtual events for students unable to come to campus.

When is PreviewTU?

PTU will begin with check-in at 8:30am and conclude at 5pm on Saturday, October 15th. We are also inviting students to attend Tulane's Campus Preview Day on October 16th from 8:30am – 1pm. This event is open to all prospective students and their families.

What's the Schedule?

We're putting the final touches on the PTU schedule, but you can expect the day to include:

  • The Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life Presentation
  • Student Support Resource Fair
  • Lunch in the Commons
  • Center for Academic Equity Presentation
  • Application Workshop
  • Diversity Fellow Real Talk Sessions (for students only)
  • Financial Aid Presentation & Open House (for parents)

Can I Bring My Parents to PTU?

Yes! Parents are welcome to attend most sessions on both October 15th and 16th, and we will have an optional financial aid presentation for parents on Saturday.

We will be providing lunch and an optional dinner on Saturday, October 15th as well as a light breakfast on Sunday, October 16th. Any food purchased on your own is not eligible for reimbursement.

Where Should I Stay?

We recognize that students may no longer be able to attend PTU as they will now need to travel with a parent or guardian to secure off-campus housing. For students who will be traveling into town with family, we have put together a list of hotels that Tulane partners with for discounted rates. There are also many Airbnbs in the area surrounding campus.

Travel Reimbursement Process

When registering for PTU, students should have received the option to indicate their interest in being reimbursed for their travel costs. This year, we are offering increased travel stipends for students who need it to attend our in-person programming on the 15th. Students traveling from the west coast (PT and MT time zones) can be reimbursed up to $500, and students from the east coast (ET and CT time zones) may receive up to $400 for any travel related expenses at your discretion, including hotel, flights, or mileage driven.

Receipts should be uploaded to the Travel Reimbursement Form in your Green Wave Portal by October 18th, and reimbursements will be processed after PTU.

If you did not indicate an interest in reimbursement, but would now like to be considered, please kfilson@tulane.edu.
