PreviewTU FAQs

Who is invited to attend PreviewTU?

PreviewTU is a campus visit program for all prospective students. Given the tailored nature of programming offered; however, students who identify with one or more of the following identities are especially encouraged to attend: first in their household to attend college, LGBTQIA+, students from low-income backgrounds, students from rural or small towns, and/or students of color.

When is 2023 PreviewTU?

PTU will be held in partnership with Campus Preview Day (CPD) on Saturday, October 14th. Students will participate in CPD programming from 8:30am to 1pm, followed by PTU programming from 1pm to 7pm. Students attending PreviewTU do not need to register for CPD separately.

What is the schedule for PreviewTU?

We’re still putting the final touches on the PTU schedule, but you can expect the day to include:

  • Workshops with the Carolyn Barber Pierre Center for Intercultural Life and the Center for Academic Equity
  • Opportunities to connect with our Diversity Fellows
  • Academic engagement with Tulane professors
  • An end-of-day celebration with food and games on the quad

In addition to Campus Preview Day programming, which includes:

  • A current student panel

Can I bring my parents?

Yes! Parents are welcome to attend all sessions with their students. Keep in mind, however, that due to space and funding limitations, students are encouraged to only bring one parent, guardian, or adult with them.

Will meals be provided?

Yes! We will provide breakfast, snacks, lunch, and dinner for all guests.

Where should I stay?

Tulane has a list of hotels that we partner with for discounted rates for visitors. There are also many AirBnbs in the area surrounding campus.

How does the travel reimbursement process work?

When registering for PTU, students will have the option to indicate whether or not they are interested in being considered for a travel reimbursement stipend.

We will be processing registration and reimbursement requests on a first-come, first served rolling basis. Therefore, students should submit their registration by September 5th for priority consideration. The latest date to register for PTU and be considered for the travel reimbursement is September 12th.

The following expenses are eligible for reimbursement: mileage driven, flights, lodging (such as hotels or short-term rentals), transportation to or from the airport.

Students are eligible for up to $500 total for travel for them and one guest. For example, if a student and parent spend $700 total on flights and a hotel stay, they will be reimbursed $500.

Travel Reimbursement Timeline

  • Priority submission deadline for reimbursement consideration: Tuesday, September 5th
  • Reimbursement approval notifications begin: Friday, September 8th
  • Final submission deadline for reimbursement consideration: Tuesday, September 12th
  • Final reimbursement approval notifications by: Sunday, September 17th
